RE: STATUS - VARIANCES HEREBY VOIDED AS UNNECESSARY
These variances were for mobile classroom units for the public
schools. By condition of approval, they were due to expire June
(1992) . As a result of a zoning text amendment approved by the
Board of Supervisors on November 1, 1989, mobile classrooms for
public uses such as schools are permitted by-right in every
district. Therefore, these variances are voided as unnecessary.

Dear Mr. Thraves:
This letter is to inform you that on June 28, 1988, during
the regular meeting of the Albemarle County Board of Zoning
Appeals, the Board granted your variance request, VA-88-39,
subject to the following stipulation:
1) That the variance be granted for a period not to exceed
four 4 years.
2) That the location of the mobile home be approved by the
Zoning Administrator
This variance approval allows relief from Section 5.8 of the
Albemarle County Zoning Ordinance to allow permanent use of two
(2) mobile homes as classrooms.

APPLICANT: Albemarle County Public Schools

ZONING: RA (Rural Areas)
ACREAGE: 4. 55 acres
LOCATION: Located on the south side of Route 760, at its
intersection with Route 710
The applicant seeks a variance from Section 5.8 of the Albemarle
County Zoning Ordinance, which states:
"5.8 Temporary Nonresidential Mobile Homes
A temporary nonresidential mobile home may be authorized by
the Zoning Administrator provided the mobile home is used
to house a planned permanent use and the applicant has
received site plan approval for such permanent use on the
same site . . . . "
The applicant proposes to use two (2) mobile homes as temporary
classrooms at the Red Hill Elementary School. The additional
classroom space is needed based on projected enrollment increases.
RECOMMENDATION
The application should be approved subject to the following:
1) that the variance be granted for a period not to exceed
four (4) years.
2) that the location of the mobile homes be approved by the
Zoning Administrator
