As a resident on State Route 682 I oppose the requested variance to the current zoning provisions. SR 682 is a rural road with all of the environmental characteristics normally associated with a rural road. The requested variance would permit a building to be constructed more than otherwise allowed in direct view of the road, under conditions that an use of visual screening would be quite ineffective. The building site is elevated above a significant graded slope on the outside of a curve in the road. Such a building, in sight of all who passes, would be unique to the area and result in an undesirable effect on the otherwise quiescent rural character of the environment. To my knowledge no other set back variances to the zoning provisions have been requested or granted along this section of SR 682. Any "hardship" claimed by the applicant is that of his own selection. Information available to me indicates that the applicant obtained title to the property on 10 July 1990. Both zoning provisions and the topography applicable to and descriptive of this property are the same now as they were when the applicant decided to obtain this site. Very truly Walter F.
