Dear Amelia:
T am.+ writing in response to the letter inn4-4!ten rtf No emb`r 16
1990, describing a variance application by Roland F. Leap for
construction of a canopy on the front of the Green Mountain Country
Store at Keene, VA. This letter is written on behalf of Brass,
Inc. and Greenmont Farms Ltd. , adjacent properties owners. We
support Mr. Leap in his application and encourage the Board of
Zoning Appeals to approve it.
Mr. Leap's building is a pre-existing structure, the location
of which long preceded the zoning ordinance. For many years Mr.
Leap has had a water problem at the front of his store. Hopefully
a new canopy will help solve this problem. The location of the
store creates a hardship for Mr. Leap, leaving him no way to
improve the front of the building or to solve the water problem
without a variance. Mr. Leap has been an excellent neighbor for
the residents of Keene and his store is an asset to the community.
We support any action he wants to take to improve either the
appearance or operation of that business.
Again, we encourage the Board of Zoning Appeals to approve Mr.
Leap's application.
