Dear Mr. and Mrs. Gieck:
This letter is to inform you that your variance application,
VA-91-04, will be heard during the public hearing by the Albemarle
County Board of Zoning Appeals on February 12, 1991, at 3:00 p.m.,
in Meeting Room #7, Second Floor, County Office Building, 401
McIntire Road, Charlottesville, Virginia.
Enclosed please find two placards which should be posted on the
subject property as soon as possible so as to be visible from a
public road.
It will be necessary for someone to be present to speak for the
variance application. If you have any questions, please contact
our office.

Dear Ms. Patterson,
I live on the property just east of the Gieck's
property and use the old section of Rt. 53 for access to my
house. Mr. Gieck has already taken a bulldozer and cut
parts of old Rt. 53 and cut in a driveway to his property.
After I complained about the mud, he had gravel put in over
old Rt. 53 to the new driveway, and graveled the new
driveway.
However, he did not put a large enough drain under the
driveway and the rain water washes down the road towards my
house. The gravel I put in on my property has been washed
away by this water and my driveway has been left with his
mud, holes, and the ditch on the side of the road has been
filled in with dirt and debris.
I am opposed to this variance unless some action is
taken to require Mr. Gieck to fix the drainage on his
driveway and help me clean out the ditch along the side of
the road to allow water to drain properly. I am unable to
come to the meeting because of my wife's poor health. I
would hope some arrangements can be made to remedy the
drainage problem.

Applicant seeks a variance to reduce the front setback from
an old public road from 75 to 10 feet for construction of a
new house.
