RE: ARB-2019-94: Staybridge Suites — Wall Sign
Dear Ms. Robinson,
I have reviewed the above -noted sign applications. The following revisions are requested to make the
proposal consistent with the Entrance Corridor Sign Guidelines,
1. Pay the required fee. This parcel is within the Entrance Corridor, and therefore the $129 fee must
be paid with this application for ARB review.
2. Revise the sign plan to specify that all portions of the sign (letters and logo/graphic) are channel
letters and are mounted to the wall. Address the following:
a. Add a general note specifying that all portions of both wall signs are "channel letters". If
this is not correct specify which components are "cabinet" components. In order for
them to be all "channel letter" type 100% of their front surface would be the
maroon/brown color and no portion of the sign's components would be white.
b. On first page of the sign plan submission add under "Proposed Signs" a line items for the
height of the "channel" Logo/Graphic components of the signs.
3. Revise the sign plan to specify that the 3M 3635-0184 Deep Mahogany Brown Dual -Color Film
is perforated in order to allow the channel letters to appear white at night or specify how this is
accomplished if not by perforation.
4. Add a note to the sign plan that specifies "All components of the signs will illuminate as white at
night."
5. No "sign area" or "sign band" is provided on the sign plan. Address the following:
a. On all sheets of the sign plan that show the wall signs with dimensions provide a
rectangular box that represents the "sign area" or "sign band" of the specific wall. The
"sign area" is the portion of the wall, within that bay of the building, between the tops of
the windows and the top of the wall - before the building/roof components above the
wall.
b. Provide the height and widths of these "sign areas" and dimension them.
c. Dimension the distances from the edge of the "sign areas" to the edges of the sign
components (text and logo/graphic).
d. Ensure sufficient space is provided above and below the sign in the sign area. This will
be evaluated when more information is provided. However, 4" of clear space above,
below, and to the sides of a channel letter sign is considered a minimum, with larger
clearances required for larger sign bands.
6. Revise the sign plan to include the width of the gap between the three different portions of the
sign.
7. On each sheet that shows the building elevation include the dimension for the length of the
building frontage in that elevation.
Please respond by email within 15 days of the date of this letter indicating whether you will or will not
proceed with these revisions. Your decision to make the revisions will suspend the 60-day review period
associated with your original submittal. If you choose to complete the revisions, please email the revised
drawings to me. If you choose not to proceed with these revisions, staff will be unable to approve your
application. Failure to respond to this letter shall be presumed to be a request to proceed to action on the
application without further revisions.
