Box 7225 Charlottesville,VA 22906 (804)973-1144 December 16 , 1991 AUTOLEASE CAR RENTAL Justification for Variance Request Autolease Car Rental has been in business for 10 years in the Charlottesville area , previously located on route 29 next to the post office in the city of Charlottesville . In August the business moved to the Colonial Auto Center service building , in Albemarle county . Autolease car rental is an independant business with annual sales of $500 , 000 . Initially the sign served as a promotional structure on route 29 . We propose that the structure be reduced to 10 feet , as per county ordinance , and eliminate the promotional reader board . These changes provide exterior identification for customers locating Autolease on the Colonial Auto Center Campus . We recognize the concern of this signs visability to the route 29 corridor. The proposed changes will eliminate 8 feet of visability and advertising on the present reader board . Elimination of any exterior identification will result in the failue of prospective customers locating Autolease . We respectively request the board approve the sign with the proposed changes .
