MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS '•
1. ALL EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL MEASURES SHALL BE
INSPECTED WEEKLY AND AFTER EACH SIGNIFICANT RAINFALL. THE
INSPECTOR WILL EVALUATE THAT EACH MEASURE IS CONSTRUCTED
AND MAINTAINED ACCORDING TO MINIMUM STANDARDS AND
SPECIFICATIONS OF THE VESCH HANDBOOK. A SUMMARY OF THE
INSPECTION ITEMS INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
2. SILT FENCE SHALL BE INSPECTED FOR UNDERMINING OR
DETERIORATION OF THE FABRIC. SEDIMENT SHALL BE REMOVED WHEN
THE LEVEL OF SEDIMENT DEPOSITION REACHES HALFWAY TO THE
TOP OF THE BARRIER TO REDUCE PRESSURE ON THE FENCE AND
ALLOW ENOUGH SPACE FOR ACCUMULATION FROM FUTURE
RAINFALLS.
3. TREE PROTECTION DEVICES SHALL BE INSPECTED FOR DAMAGE OR
MISSING COMPONENTS. REPAIRS SHALL BE MADE OR ADDITIONAL
FENCING INSTALLED IF NECESSARY. DAMAGED TREES SHALL BE
MAINTAINED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROCEDURES IN THE
EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL MANUAL.
4. REAPPLY SEED, MULCH AND FERTILIZER IN AREAS WHERE
TEMPORARY SEEDING SEEDLING EMERGENCE IS POOR OR WHERE
EROSION OCCURS, AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. DO NOT MOW THE
AREAS WHERE TEMPORARY SEEDING IS PRESENT, AND PROTECT
FROM TRAFFIC AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE.
5. PERMANENT SEEDING SHALL BE INSPECTED FOR FAILURE AND
REPAIRS SHALL BE MADE WITHIN THE SAME PLANTING SEASON, IF
POSSIBLE. 16. RE-EVALUATE PLANTING MATERIALS, QUANTITIES
OF LIME, AND FERTILIZER IF INADEQUATE COVERAGE IS PRODUCED.
