RE: ARB-2019-56: Stonefield— Block 2— Phase 2 (TMP 061W0-03-D2-000A0)
Dear Mr. Myers,
The Albemarle County Architectural Review Board, at its meeting on Monday, August 5, 2019,
held a work session on the above-noted item. The ARB made the following determinations:
1. The revised drawings reviewed at the meeting confirmed that the scale and massing of
the building design were appropriate, and
2. The General Shale Dutch Chocolate brick or the brick previously approved on June 17
were acceptable.
You may consider this letter your Certificate of Appropriateness. Please note the following:
1. The brick presented on June 17 was Glen-Gery Brick Classic Series Flashed Camelot IS
Modular.
2. Window glass specifications confirming that visible light transmittance (VLT) is not below
40% and visible light reflectance (VLR) will not exceed 30% are required prior to building
permit approval.
3. Any changes in the approved design will require a new application and additional review.
4. Changes made to the site or architectural plans after issuance of a Certificate of
Appropriateness can delay the signing of final site plans and the approval of
building permits. It is in the applicant's best interest to notify ARB staff of such
changes and to initiate the review of amendments to ARB-approved plans to avoid
future delays.
5. Certificates of Appropriateness are valid for the same period that the
corresponding site plan is valid. If there is no site plan required for the proposed
work, the Certificate of Appropriateness is valid for 3 years. Applicants requesting
an extension of the period of validity must do so in writing. The letter must be
received by the Director of Planning prior to the expiration date.
