RE: ARB-2019-97: Skrimp Shack — Wall Sign
Dear Ms. Sutherland,
I have reviewed the above -noted sign applications. The following revisions are requested to make the proposal
consistent with the Entrance Corridor Sign Guidelines.
4. Revise the sign plan to specify that all of the pantone equivalent color numbers for each color utilized.
Rev. 1: Comment not yet fully addressed. Address the following:
c) Provide the closest Pantone color number for the boldest portion of the blue background in the
logo area. In the label for the blue color you can include the wording "blue gradient".
Rev. 2: Comment not vet fully addressed. A Pantone equivalent color # for the blue section
of the logo, has been specified as "0821C". However, this color does not appear to be one of
Pantone's current numbers. Please revise this number to one that can be found in Pantone's
colors.
Revise the sign plan to specify the pantone equivalent color numbers for the raceway(s). Please note that
any raceway must match the color of the wall behind it.
Rev. 1: Comment not yet fully addressed. Provide the closest Pantone color number for the SW 7654
raceway color. The SW # can be included as well, but not in place of the Pantone color number equivalent.
Rev. 2: Comment not vet fully addressed. A Pantone color equivalent number has been added to the
sign plan for the raceway. However, the text that specified "To match wall" has been removed Add
the text specifying that the color is to match the existing wall color back in to the sign plan
If the section of the sign with the logo/graphic is internally lit then its background should be opaque.
Specify which portion of the section of the sign will be opaque.
Rev. 1: Comment not yet fully addressed. No portion of the logo sign has been specified as "opaque". The
blue color is considered to be the "background". Therefore, specify that the blue portion of the sign is to be
"opaque". No light should show through the blue portion of the logo sign.
Rev. 2: Comment not vet fully addressed. The applicant has stated that the logo portion of the sign
will no longer be illuminated. A note has been added to the top of the "Logo Layout" page stating
"Note: Logo is Non-Muminated". However, a note on the coversheet under "Mumination" still
states that the Logo is illuminated. Remove the mention of the logo portion of the sign from the
"illumination" portion of the notes on the first sign plan sheet.
10. Rev. 2 [NEW COMMENT] As discussed by email the tag line small cabinet "pill box" will be
allowed because of the distance to the EC, the size of the "pill box" and because of the precedent set
by another sign in the Rio Hill Shopping Center. In adding the "pill box" back into the sign plan
please address the following. Please note these comments are based upon what was included in the
first submission.
a. Add the tag line, small cabinet "pill box" back into the sign plan.
b. Provide Pantone Color # equivalent for both colors in the tag line portion of the sign
c. Ensure that the colors specified for the tag line portion of the sign are colors already utilized
elsewhere in the sign since the sign plan already utilizes more colors than are allowed in the
guidelines.
d. _Ensure that the background color of the tagline portion of the sign is specified to be
"opaque".
e. Specify the Pantone color # for the components that connect the tag line to the raceway.
Ensure in that information it includes "to match the existing wall color"
f. Revise the typeface of the text of the tag line to be one of the fonts already utilized in the
sign. As proposed in the 111 submission a 41h typeface was specified and three typefaces or
less are supposed to be included.
I1. Rev. 2 [NEW COMMENT] Ensure that the revision date for the sign plan is updated with each
resubmission when changes have been made.
12. Rev. 2 INEW COMMENT] The location diagram, provided in the first submission that showed the
location of the Skrimp Shack proposed sign location in Rio Hill Shopping Center, should be included
in every submission. Please ensure you add it back into the sign plan
Please respond by email within 15 days of the date of this letter indicating whether you will or will not proceed with
these revisions. Your decision to make the revisions will suspend the 60-day review period associated with your
original submittal. If you choose to complete the revisions, please email the revised drawings to me. If you choose
not to proceed with these revisions, staff will be unable to approve your application. Failure to respond to this letter
shall be presumed to be a request to proceed to action on the application without further revisions.
