RE: LOR Application for SDP201500010
Dear Cameron,
On behalf of the County of Albemarle Schoo► Board, we submit this Letter of Revision
(LOR) request letter to describe the proposed changes to the above referenced site plan.
Description of Proposed Site Amendment
Albemarle County Public Schools is currently under efforts to procure much needed
additional classroom space. As an intermediate step while the school raises money for a
building expansion, modular classroom units would be installed (as has been done before
on this site prior to previous building expansions). Based on the direction of County staff,
we have prepared a Letter of Revision application for this work.
This application proposes two (2) new modular classroom units, one of which will be a
'double long' unit (see attached plans). These would be installed sequentially as need
arises, starting with unit 1. Unit 1 will be a newly procured unit, whereas unit 2 could be
newly procured, or a relocation of one of the existing units already on site. Power, data,
and water utilities will be provided directly from the existing building. A small pressure
sanitary lateral with a grinder pump at unit 1 will allow the units to be sewered without
the need for extensive rock excavation or costly sanitary main extension.
Field observations and previous site plan amendments indicate an existing fire hydrant in
the vicinity of unit 1 that would require relocation approximately 30'to the north to allow
for the unit's installation. Fire coverage has been analyzed, and the relocation will not LIN
E
adversely affect life safety. The existing water easement will be adjusted accordingly.
Access to the existing fire access road will be maintained with the installation of both G R A D E
units.
Unit 2 will require a small timber retaining wall (less than 48") in order to provide a flat CIVIL ENGINEERING
building pad for the unit. Details of this can be found in the attached plans.

5. The existing water main is 8" diameter
The existing water main has been changed to the proper measurement. See
revisions on C1.0.
6. Ensure the force main crosses under existing water main
We have shifted the location of the proposed fire hydrant, truncated the water
main and redirected the force main so that it does not cross the water main.See
revisions on C1.0.
7. There is an existing easement on the neighboring parcel for a future water main
connection. Show this easement in relation to the property line, DB 4425 PG 325.
We have included this easement on the drawings. See revisions on C1.0.
8. Shift hydrant away from trailers.
Hydrant location has been approved by Deputy Fire Marshal, Shawn Maddox.
See attached email.
9. Leave a portion of existing water main as stub out for future water connection.
More details can be given once the above easement is shown.
Comment noted. See revisions on C1.0.

All—I believe the proposed location between the two buildings makes the most sense for this existing site. Fire Rescue
will have no objections to the LOR with the hydrant equidistant between the two buildings.

Shawn,
I'm resending the image we shared a few days ago, see below. As currently positioned, midway between the two
buildings, the hydrant would be approximately 26'from the buildings, blue circles.
You'll note that the red circle is an approximation of a 40' radius. However, the existing conditions beyond the location of
the hydrant and the property boundary is a large rock deposit.
Please confirm you are accepting of this approach.
