My assumption is that they used the term abandoned as a practical term and not a process term for the state system. Were you or Willis able to get the history on the status of that abandoned road? Are there any VDOT specific things VDOT would want to see if the County is requiring the applicant to create a private street to serve those four lots? Some of the other planners and I have been struggling with this project because we can't figure out what the abandoned road is classified as (private street, VDOT public ROW, etc.) that the parent tract (TMP21-41C) fronts on. We're approaching this as the applicant needs to submit a private street request in order to provide Parcel A with the minimum lot frontage required to meet our Zoning Ordinance. Due to the location of TMP 21-41C, the private street will have to start where the abandoned road enters on Burnley Station Road, and continue west across the frontage of TMP 21-41 to reach TMP 21-41C, and then south to serve the new Parcel A and TMP 21-41A. This will require each property owner of parcels that front on the private street to sign a maintenance agreement as required by Section 14-317 of our Subdivision Ordinance. Does VDOT have any more info on the status of that abandoned road? What kind of information would VDOT want to see for a private street that enters out on to Burnley Station Road?
