RE: Timberwood Square
Enhanced Erosion and Sediment Control Measures
Dear Mr. Duval,
I am writing to update you on the status of our Timberwood Square project. In our past
discussions with the FLCA Board, we have agreed that enhancing the project's erosion control,
in lieu of stormwater detention is the best way to protect Arbor Lake. To that end, we have had
our designers consider the lake as a regional facility and, working with the County, focus our
stormwater management plans on enhanced erosion control in lieu of stormwater detention. It
is my understanding that the project now includes the following enhanced erosion and
sediment control measures.
Built-in Redundancies --To enhance overall sediment control, erosion control measures shall be
installed in series to ensure that runoff must pass through multiple measures.
At the start of the treatment train, the project will focus on stopping erosion.
Erosion Control Matting — To help prevent erosion, matting shall be installed when seeding
slopes in excess of 4H:1V.
Downstream of exposed areas, silt fence inlet protection will help control sediment before it
gets on roadways and into drainage structures.
Filter socks and Floc Logs — To trap and filter run-off closer to the actual erosion, filtering
measures, designed to remove fine particles and colloidal soils from runoff will be installed
around storm inlets.
Reinforced Silt Fencing— For added protection, wire -backed silt fence, also known as reinforced
or super silt fence, shall be installed between the distrubed area and Arbor Lake.
The primary onsite measure for treating sediment laden runoff is the sediment basin.

D Faircloth Skimmer device — As an additional enhancement, a skimmer shall be added to the
L ,q riser pipe of sediment basins. This assists in the filtration and removal of fine particles and
colloidal soils from the water before it's released from the basin.
