G E N E R A L WA R A N D S E W R C O N a T I O N S
1. Work shall be subject to inspection by Albemarle County Service Authority
inspectors. The contractor will be responsible for notifying the proper Service
Authority Officials at the start of the work.
2. The location of existing utilities across the line of the proposed work are not
necessarily shown on the plans and where shown, are only approximately correct.
The contactor shall on his own initiative locate all underground lines and
structures as necessar, .
3. All materials and construction shall comply with general water and sewer
construction 5pacificetions as adopted by the Albemarle County Service Authority
on January 20, 1943s amended December 10, 1984, February 21,..1965 and July 17,
1989.
4. Datum for all elevations shown in National Geodetic Survey.
5. The contractor shall be responsible for notifying "Miss Utility"
(1-800-552-7001).
6. Al water and sewer pipe shall have a minimum of 3 feet of cover meseuired from
the top of pipe, over the centerline of pipe,
7, 20' wide easements, centered on the water and sewer Pipeline and appuirtenanees,
shall be dedicated -to the Albemarle County Service Authority, except where the
line is in a public road right of way easement, in which case the access
easement shall also be dedicated as an utility easement.
8. Ductile iron pipe shall be used in fill areas, unless 95% compaction can The
obtained and certified by an approved testing lab, at the Owner's expense.
9. 3' minimum separation required between *star line and storm sewer culverts or 6"
separation when W.L. insulated. 1/2" thick therms-cel pipe insulation in 3' x
4' sheets as manufactured by N-maca, Inc. or equal approved by Albemarle County
Service Authority. Insulation to extend 5' beyond centerline of culvert in both
directions or 5' beyond ends of culvert when parallel.

E,OR SITE PLANS
1. Prior to commencement of any construction within any existing
public right-of-way, including connaction to any existing road, a
permit for said construction shall be obtained from the Virginia
Department of Transportation (hereafter abbreviated V.D.O.T..)-
2. All paving and drainage related materials and constructizfl methods
shall conform to current specifications and standards of V,D.O.T.
unless otherwise rated.
3. Erosion and siltetion control measures shall be provide'. in
accordance wish the approved erosion control plan and shall be
installed prior to any clearing, grading or .other constructic i.
4. All slopes and disturbed areas are to be fertilized, seeded and
mulched.. Maximum allowable fill or cur slope is 2: 1. Where
`.reasonably obtainable, lesser slopes of 40 or better are -to be
achieved.
5. All drainage inlets shall have a 2-'inch local depression.
6< Paved or rip -rap lined ditch may be required when, in the opinion
of the Director of Engineering, or his designee, it is deemed
necessary in order to stabilize a drainage channel.
7. All traffic control signs shall conform with the Virginia Manual
for Uniform Traffic Control Devices, latest edition.
8. Unless otherwise noted all concrete pipe. shall be reinforced
concrete pipe - Class Ill.
9. All excavation for underground pipe installation must comply with
OSHA Standards for the Construction Industry (29 GFR Part 1 26).
in addition to the above notes, the following statement must tie included
on all site plans which require V.D.O.T. approval, The statement must
be signed by the developer of the property prior to tentative afte plimn
approval.
We the undersigned developer(s) understand that approval of
this plan by the County of Albemarle does not necessarily
indicate Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) approval
of the plan. Approval of the plan by the County does not in
any way relieve me of my responsibility in obtaining final
VDOT approval prior to the iss lance of buildina permits and/or
certificates of occupancy.
