Hi Margaret,
Here you go:
1. Wood. We're going to route it on a C&C router using a pattern we get from the designer.
2. Yep, it'll match.
3. 160 watts is fine.
4. 12" is correct for the sign lights (urgh, it's wrong in the plan's caption, but shown correctly in the
illustration). 14" is the light over the front door.
5. I have an email out to her to ask.
6. This is the roofing manufacturer's color card (I was wrong, it's slate gray on the right, not charcoal.
Though I just put the same roof on the house next-door, and that looks lighter and grayer than what
went up over there):

7. Yes.The new metal roofs come in the slate gray color, and we'll just get the fine folks at Blue Ridge to
mix some roof paint to match on the main roof. The current bright silver is a little eye-popping.
8.There are two separate windows to the right, yes. It's there in the drawings, just a little hard to pick
out.
9. Yes, on wood windows and doors. I don't like vinyl anywhere, much less in an old building.
Hope this helps and have a lovely weekend,
Polly

Good afternoon, Polly.
I have a few questions on your sign application:
1. What is the material of the sign panel?
2. Is the blue in the sign meant to match the Evening Blue siding? If not, please
provide a color sample or a Pantone#equivalent.
3. The lamps proposed to illuminate the sign are meant to be tilted to point more
directly at the sign. This means they are not full cutoff fixtures. By ordinance,
non-full-cutoff fixtures must emit less than 3000 lumens. 160 watts of
incandescent light equals 3000 lumens. You have proposed 200 watts, which
1
exceeds the maximum. To use a non-full-cutoff fixture with an incandescent
bulb, the wattage of the bulb must be less than 160 watts.
4. Note that the sheet with the lamp illustrations includes conflicting information
regarding the size of the sign light shades. One note says 14" shade, another
says 12". Your email referenced a 12" shade for this light.
Also, as a follow-up to our June 26 email:
S. The 20' scale is noted on the parking lot detail. The elevation drawings do not
appear to be printed at a regular scale. Could you have your designer note the
scale on the elevation drawings, and have her print one set of elevation
drawings to scale?
6. Can you provide the paint color manufacturer, color name and number for the
charcoal roof paint?
7. Can you confirm that the new metal roofs for the porch and garage will match
the color of the main roof?•
8. When I look at the Google Street View image of your building, it looks like there
are 2 separate windows to the right of the front entrance. The drawings seem to
show 1 large window in that location. Can you clarify?
9. You indicated that windows and doors would be replaced in kind. Does that
mean wood doors and windows with true divided lights?
Thanks for your help.
Margaret

Hey Margaret,
Thanks, I aim to at least slightly entertain, even if at too much length ;)
Your questions:
1. Are the elevation drawings to scale? If so, please identify the
scale.
— I believe it's 1:20, but I can check with my designer. But
she's well-versed in county code and knows better than I what you're looking for. She
actually did identify the scale of 20' on the GIS page.
2. Will the building be re-roofed? If so, please indicate material
and color.
—There will be new metal roofs put on the front porch and
the garage area. The existing metal store roof will be power washed and painted to
match. I believe the color is charcoal. It's currently a light silver and dilapidated shingle
roof over the garage. So this will be more muted and even.
