General Construction Notes:
to 1.The site is not near a watercourse or within a reservior watershed.
2. The site lies in an area designated as Zone C (area of minimal flooding) as shown on maps by
the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
3. The location of existing utilities across the line of proposed work are not necessarily
shown on the plans and where shown are only approximately correct. The contractor
shall on his own initiative locate all underground lines and structures before commencing work.
He agrees to be fully responsible fair any and all damages that might be occasioned by his
failure to exactly locate and preserve any and all underground utilities.
4. The contractor shall be responsible for notifying "Miss Utility" (1-800-552-7001).
5. The acronym VDOT refers to the Virginia Department of Transportation.
6. All materials and construction methods shall conform to current VDOT Road and Bridge
Specifications and Standards.
7. Erosion and siltation control measures shall be provided in accordance with the approved
erosion control plan and must be installed prior to any clearing, grading or other construction.
8. All slopes and disturbed areas are to be fertilized, seeded and mulched. Maximum allowable
fill slope is 2:1. Where reasonably obtained, lesser slopes of 4:1 or better are to be achieved.
9. Paved or rip —rap lined ditch may be required to stobilized a drainage channel when, in
the opinion of the Director of Engineering or his designee, it is deemed necessary.
10. All traffic control signs shall conform with the the Virginia Manual for Uniform Traffic Control
Devices, latest edition.
11. All excavation for underground pipe installation must comply with OSHA Standards
for the construction i(29CFR Part 19,26).
12. Existing private septic tank and drainfield.
