To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to you regarding the Food Service Equipment Upgrades and Backup Generator
project for the installation of a Walk in Freezer, Backup Generator and Concrete Pads. This
project is located at 5880 Rockfish Gap Turnpike.
The application and 4 copies of the proposed changes are attached. The latest approved site plan
from SDP-2004-00019 has been marked to show locations of new equipment.
The Letter of Revision details two (3) changes to the site plan.
1) Walk in Freezer- A new 8'x 12' freezer will be installed attached to the building behind
the kitchen area. The freezer will be 9' tall including the refrigeration equipment installed
on the top.
2) Backup Generator- A new Backup Generator will be installed to provide emergency
backup power. The generator will be approximately 7'Lx 4'W x 5'H and installed on a
new concrete pad and the existing fencing for a existing heat pump condensing unit will
be removed and new fence installed around both pieces of equipment.
3) Concrete Pads- 2 new concrete pad will be installed on top of existing pavement to
support the new equipment. The pad will extend out 6" on all sides of the freezer. The
concrete pad will be 6" thick.

At Henley Middle School we will installing a Walk In Freezer attached to the kitchen area. The freezer will be built by
the manufacturer in CeiepR"Red Aluminum to match the exterior of the building and fencing will be installed if needed.
The new equipment will be 9'W x 161 x 107 including refrigeration equipment on the roof. There will be a new concrete
slab installed for new equipment to sit on and will extend the length and width of freezer by 6" on three sides. The tree
provides some screening from both directions of travel on RT.250 but an opening provides visibility to equipment.

• Each application package must contain. (8) folded copies of all plans and documents being submitted.
Only (1) set of building material samples is required. All submittal items, including building material
samples, become the property of Albemarle County. Applicants are encouraged to maintain duplicate
copies of all submittal items in their own files.
• Only complete application packages will be scheduled for ARB review. The application package is not
complete without the appropriate checklist, completed, signed, and included with the required submittal
materials indicated on the checklist

A. Written description of the proposal

them and provide their sizes.
4 RI Indicate anticipated visibility of the equipment from the EC street and describe the method by
which it will be made not visible.
5 Explain how the proposal is compatible with the surrounding area and the Entrance Corridor.
B. Site plan or sketch plan showing the following (drawn to the scale of 1" = 20' and clearly legible):
1 0 Location of all proposed equipment to be installed. Show the location of the equipment in relation
to the overall building. Show the building in relation to the Entrance Corridor street. Key the
locations to the equipment type and size provided in 'A" above.
2 Location of all existing equipment to be removed/replaced. Indicate the height of each piece.
C. For roof -mounted equipment provide architectural drawings showing:
1 ❑ If replacement equipment will be visible from the EC, indicate the color of the equipment and provide
a color sample or the corresponding Pantone color number.
2 ❑ Height of parapet walls and other architectural features that provide screening.
3 ❑ Site/building section showing the equipment and the features that provide screening as viewed
from the Entrance Corridor.
D. For ground -mounted equipment, provide a landscape plan showing the following (drawn to the
scale of 1 "=20' and clearly legible):
1 ❑ Existing landscaping to be removed, if any. Indicate the location, plant size, and species.
2 ❑ Proposed landscaping. Indicate location, plant size and species.
3 ❑ Location and height of above -ground utilities and associated easements, and location of below -

E. Additional material
1 Provide labeled, color 8-%" x 11" photos of the site as seen from both directions on the Entrance
Corridor.
2 ❑ Sheet number, total number of sheets, date of the drawing, date and description of the latest revision,
and contact information for the firm preparing the drawings in the title block on all drawings.
3 ❑ Any additional material that will make the review more productive. Clarification of topography,
visibility, utilities, landscaping, or other unique or unusual conditions is welcome.
4 ® The applicant may be asked to mark the location of the equipment in the field for staffs site visit.
