Chris is putting together the samples for the block and the glass and should have them to you shortly. I know Justin supplied you with the printed version of Chris's updated renderings. They are also attached to this email. Chris's notes are below: 1-a: I modified the storefront windows at north end of the building(North, east and west facades)to show glazing extending down to the "stringercourse" as shown in the renderings 1-b: I revised the north elevation to show bi-parting entry doors surrounded by fixed storefront glazing in order to more closely resemble the proportions of glass shown in the renderings. 3: I added a note to the "Exterior Storefront Notes" on each elevation sheet calling out the requirements for minimum light transmittance and maximum reflectance. The material samples will be sent separately and at a later date. Thanks, Kyle On Fri, Dec 13, 2019 at 12:07 PM Margaret Maliszewski<MMaliszewski@albemarle.org>wrote: Please see attached. I'll ask the ARB for input/direction on#1 and 7 at Monday's meeting. Let me know if you have questions. Thanks. Margaret Your recent submittal(site plan dated 11/4/19 and architectural plans dated November 2019)has been reviewed. Review comments are provided below. Numbered comments are outstanding conditions of approval from the July 16,2019 ARB action letter. Lettered comments are current review comments based on those conditions. 1. Provide architectural elevations and details that correspond to the renderings submitted and reviewed on 7/15/2019. a.Windows in end bays on the north, west, and east elevations don't extend down to the stringcourses as in the 7/15/2019 drawings. b. On the north elevation, the proportion of the door to the canopy is different than what was illustrated in the 7/15/2019 drawings. 2. Revise the material schedule to indicate the color of the metal canopy, the color name/number of the standing seam metal roof, the glass type, and the retaining wall material. 2 a.Some of the material specifications have changed since the material/color board was submitted. Provide samples of the metal canopy (ash gray), the "light stone" metal panels, and the ground face block(Martinsville#9316). 3. Revise the glass to significantly reduce the tint. Choose one glass spec. Show that VLT will not drop below 40%and VLR will not exceed 30%.Add the standard window glass note to the architectural plans. a.No revised glass sample was submitted. The elevation sheets confirm that glass is still tinted. Provide a glass sample (with manufacturer information and specs) with a significantly reduced tint. 4. Show the locations of all ground- and building-mounted equipment on the plans. Show how visibility from the ECs will be eliminated.Note that roof-mounted equipment will be difficult to incorporate into a cohesive design. a.Include a note on the site plan stating that the equipment screen wall material will match the building wall material. 5. Revise the lighting plan to either include the canopy mount fixture on the plan and in the schedule, and add the corresponding cut sheet, or eliminate the reference in note 4 on sheet C9. a.This was not addressed. 6. Revise the lighting plan to limit illumination at the ground to 20 fc. a.This was not addressed. 7. Revise the plan to provide sufficient planting area and trees along the west side of the building to help soften the building's appearance. Planting along the west side of the base of the building wall should correspond to the planting shown in the submitted rendering on 7/15/19. In addition, planting along the base of the retaining wall that, corresponds to the building should be 40' on center with planting size of 2'/2" caliper.Add an interior parking lot tree along the west side of the parking lot. a.The plants shown on the landscape plan do not correspond to the 7/15/19 illustration. Those shown at the top of the wall appear to be too large for the 5.5' deep planting area.Green screens with vines are provided along portions of the lower wall instead of trees/shrubs. 8. A monument sign location is shown on the plan.Note that sign location is not approved with the site plan.It will be reviewed and approved with the separate sign application. 3 k I Margaret Maliszewski, Chief of Planning/Resource Management Albemarle County Department of Community Development 401 McIntire Road Charlottesville,VA 22902 434-296-5832 x3276 Kyle Redinger kyle.redinger@gmail.com Phone: 434.409.1929 Fax:434.293.6929 This email message and any attachments are for the sole use of the intended recipient(s) and contain confidential and/or privileged information.Any unauthorized review, use, disclosure or distribution is prohibited.
