When I met with Jeff I explained Jeramiah wasn't working with us anymore and I wasn't in the loop. This was after over 30 days of leaving regular messages without any response from another staff member. So- it has been very frustrating from the beginning getting this resolved and I'm running out of time to be able to pour concrete this year. I had this ready to start next week- Miss Utility has already been marked. Yes, please assume the same landscaping and we'll adjust if they want to do something different. My understanding is they want to do something different for both signs(it'll be the same for each sign but different than it is now). Also - by this email I can confirm that the materials used will be as close a match as physically possible to the existing sign. Please let me know if there is anything else you need. And please let me know when we are cleared to start building the sign. On Fri, Nov 22, 2019 at 11:46 AM Margaret Maliszewski <MMaliszewski@albemarle.org>wrote: Good morning, Ben. The sign requires ARB approval because it is adjacent to an Entrance Corridor. As Jeff indicated in a recent email, and as is evident from the first message in this chain, I provided comments to Jeramiah in July. The Entrance Corridor guidelines require landscaping at the base of all freestanding signs. I can approve the sign with the same landscaping that was approved with the sign at Wickham Pond Drive—15 Parson's Juniper in front of the sign and 5 Nigra Inkberry Holly behind. I can reference that plan in the approval of this sign so that you would not have to prepare a landscape plan at this time. If the landscape committee desires alternate landscaping in the spring, you can follow up with an amended plan at that time. If you would like to proceed in this way, please confirm in a return email. Why does this sign require ARB approval and why wasn't that shared previously? Why is it that this review process seems like you look at an application, find an issue, put it down until that issue is resolved...then pick it back up until you find another issue...rinse and repeat. This is absolutely ridiculous. I've been run around on this sign only to find out that the original plan was fine and that you misunderstood the code. I applied for this in July and am still not finished with this? We don't have a landscape plan and will work with their community landscape committee to install landscaping in the spring. I'll pay the$129 online per the process Jeff shared with me yesterday. How long will this take? Without these items I can't complete my review of your proposal, and your sign permit can't be approved. Please provide: 1.A check for$129 made out to the County of Albemarle for the ARB review of your proposal. Include a note with the check that indicates the payment is for ARB-2019-86. 2.A sketch plan showing proposed landscaping at the base of the sign. 3.Confirmation in a return email that sign materials and colors are to match the existing previously approved signs as illustrated in the photographs submitted with the sign permit application. When complete information is received, review of the application can resume. If you have questions, please contact me. 2 Thanks.
