Ben,
I must apologize! After bringing this up with a colleague, I realize I was interpreting the Ordinance regulations
incorrectly. It is not that the whole structure cannot exceed 2.5 times the area of the sign itself, it is that the structure
cannot exceed 2.5 times the max allowable area for the sign itself. Meaning, the sign (white stucco area) is no more
than 32 sq.ft, OK. And the whole structure is no more than 80 sq.ft, OK.The sign/structure as proposed will work as is.
Sorry for the confusion and back and forth. Rest assured, you probably now have a better understanding of the sign regs
as most people!
I can/will approve it as it is clearly under 80 sq.ft, but it still would be nice to know the actual measurements of the
whole structure. I'm estimating around 40 sq.ft but cannot say for sure.
From here, this application still needs ARB approval. I've spoken with Brent Nelson (copied) who is handling the ARB
review and according to their file, Margaret sent out an e-mail on 7/18 requesting necessary submission of an ARB
packet along with the ARB fee, but has not yet received a response. Please work with Brent to get this settled.
Thanks,
Jeff P.Baker

So if we make the structure 3 feet even in height and get rid of the nine inches, we'll be compliant? If so -that's what
we'll do.

Not at all, no problem.Actually tomorrow I'll be out most of the day accompanying our Building Inspectors out in the
field. But I'll try to clarify here. The pillars are part of the whole structure so the whole thing cannot exceed 2.5 times
the size of the sign itself, which is the stucco box area. This stucco box area CAN be up to 32 sq.ft in size and, thus, the
whole structure can be, but not exceed 80 sq.ft.

Hope that's clear. I'm looking at my previous message which may have caused confusion. The "total size" reference
was to the stucco box area.
Let me know if you got it.

Hey Jeff-did you say the pillars are excluded from that calculation? If they are not, we may need to adjust. I'd rather
make the stucco area bigger- but frankly, whatever can get me approval the fastest is what I'll do. Do you have time for
a call tomorrow(Thursday)? I'm not trying to be dense, I just want to make sure we do this correctly.

Ben,
We still need to clarify the total size. If it's more than 37.5 sq.ft,there's an issue and either the structure will have to
be made smaller OR—easier—the size of the sign (area of stucco box)can be enlarged (up to 32 sq.ft).
As long as the whole structure is no more than 2.5 times the size of the sign itself.

My eyes are not better! I didn't look at the scan to realize it was so faint.Yes-the yellow area is less than 7 feet 6
inches by 2 feet-which is 15 square feet. On the notation-that came from our contractor, but I read it as 12 feet 6
inches. I think the exact measurement on the stucco area will be 7 feet six inches by 1 foot six inches. I'm forwarding
you a scan of the location with an indication included stating the sign will be located at least five feet from the right of
way.

Ben,
Your eyes must be better than mine because what you sent was pretty hard to read for me. What we received is
attached.Just to confirm, are you saying the area of the yellow-shaded region is 15 sq.ft?

Also, I'm unfamiliar with the notation style used above. Is,for example, the base 12'6" or 12.6'?
Please confirm the total size of the whole structure. If the yellow box is 15 sq.ft, it seems the total structure is greater
than two-and-a-half times that(37.5 sq.ft).
Finally, for the location, you'll notice the first page of the attached only indicates a box for the proposed location of
the sign, but gives no distance from the property line. Need the distance shown and must be at least 5'from P.L.

Hey Jeff-
Here is the sign dimensions indicating the stucco portion will be 15 square feet. What do you need for the location - I
think you guys picked up on that off of your site visit. I don't think it was specifically indicated on what we provided.
Are you able to send me what we submitted? I know Jeramiah kept a copy, but I can't find it and he no longer works
for us.
