These mud traps will allow the contractor to capture concentrated water that will be generated from fill slopes tying into existing grade. The drainage areas behind these mud traps are small so the flow should be minimal giving the designer confidence in their application here. Traditional sediment traps would push the limits of disturbance further out than necessary. If, during construction, the county E&SC inspector deems these measures to be inadequate, the contractor will provide additional measures to the satisfaction of the inspector.
