Review #2
Dear Ms. Kanellopoulos:
The Department of Transportation, Charlottesville Residency Transportation and Land Use
Section, has reviewed the above referenced plan as submitted by Collins Engineering, dated 15
April 2020 and offer the following comment:
1. Proposed entrance does not meet the minimum spacing distance required. Please see
VDOT's Road Design Manual appendix F., pg., F-23, minimum spacing distance
standards for commercial entrances and intersections and median crossovers. As
proposed an AM-E will be required.
2. Recommend sharing existing entrance with parcel# 61-134.
3. The entrance width needs to be a minimum width of 30'ft., please see VDOT's RDM,
appendix F-pg., F-125, commercial entrance designs along highways with curb and
gutter.
4. Note that the final site and subdivision/road plans must show conformance with the
VDOT Road Design Manual Appendices B(1) and F, as well as any other applicable
standards, regulations or other requirements.
Please provide two copies of the revised plan along with a comment response letter. If further
information is desired, please contact Willis Bedsaul at 434-422-9866.
A VDOT Land Use Permit will be required prior to any work within the right-of-way. The
owner/developer must contact the Charlottesville Residency Transportation and Land Use
Section at (434) 422-9399 for information pertaining to this process.
Sincerely,
Adam J. Moore, P.E.
