Tax Map/Parcel Number 45-112F and 45-86
Dear Mr. Leckrone;
This letter is to approve as a letter of revision the removal of the Virginia Pines along the common
boundary with the Albemarle County SPCA. This approval also amends the Albemarle County SPCA tree
conservation area plan. This is your third letter of revision for this site. Please note that a total of three
Letters of Revision are allowed before all changes to the site plan are required to be submitted in the form
of a new site plan amendment. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.

Dear Ms. McCulley,
Thank you for taking the time to review my project. Back in March of this year I had
certified Arborist Jeff Knies look at several trees on and around my property. It was his
opinion that the group of Virginia Pines on the hill above my building and on the SPCA land
were in danger of falling on my building. I have enclosed a copy of the letter that he sent to
me in regards to these trees.
In addition I have spoken to Beth McPhee, Executive Director of the SPCA, she is
in agreement that not only do the trees between our properties need to be removed, but
that the trees in front of the SPCA building also need to be removed.
Mark Graham was on site in late July. Mr. Graham commented on the possibility
that the pines could easily be blown over onto my building.
Thank you again for taking time with this issue.

Dear Sir,
Arboriculture
VA 22949
School site at Berkmar Drive
In regard to the trees in the frontage of the S.P.C.A. conservation
easement overhanging the new Foundations Childhood
Development Center.
Changes to the site as approved by the county have left a group of
tall isolated trees on the top of a strip of dirt now elevated fifteen
feet above grade. Before development the trees were in a continuous
forest which provided support and shelter from storms.
Most of the trees in question are Virginia Pines which tend to be
short lived, unstable trees to begin with. They are mixed with small
hardwood trees removal of the hazard trees will not leave the site
bare.
I am a certified Arborist with twenty plus years of experience in my
professional opinion the trees in question present an obvious liability
to the safety of the people occupying the school and should be
removed.
Thank-yg
W
Jeff ilk
