What follows is correspondence between David Mitchell, the developer of North Pointe Community, and Adam Moore, Assistant Resident Engineer —Land Use VDOT- Charlottesville Residency. The conversation pertains to North Pointe's request to locate a sign in the future right-of-way. Adam Moore, representing VDoT, responds that he is willing to include it on the permit (LUP), as the sign is located outside of the clear zone. My recommendation is that the sign be off to the side. However it is your design as the engineer of record and does appearto be outside the clear zone. I am willing to include it on a permit. Attached is a plan we are submitting to the County ARB for approval. I think we have two VDoT issues for coordination Clear Zone Area • We have the walls/sign beyond the required clear zone on this section of Rt29. • Any planting within the clear zone will be the smaller size as required. Are these locations OK with VDoT? Landscape/Simon • The sign in the median will not be in the existing RT29 ROW however it will be in the new ROW dedication for the Middle Entrance and and Entrance Road. • Some grass/irrigation and planting will be within the Rt29 ROW and the new ROW dedication for the Middle Entrance and and Entrance Road. We will need a maintenance agreement with VDoT so any maintenance or repairs will be the responsibility of the Developer or HOA. Does VDoT have a standard form (in Word) that I can use? thx David G.
