RE: Rivanna Village Phase 2 (Blocks D, F, G, I, and J) Road Plans - 4thSubmittal (SUB2019-00156)
Dear Adam and Max,
Please accept for review and approval the attached revised road plans, geotechnical reports, bridge
plans/calc, and retaining wall/calcs which address VDOTs latest review comments. This letter is
intended to accompany the revised plans and serve as written response to the comments.
VDOT (Adam Moore/Max Greene)
Bridge Plans, Retaining Wall Plans, Geotechnical Reports:
Due to the adjusted COVID plan review protocols, the format of review comments directly (red
lined) on the electronic documents made it difficult to create a point by point comment response
letter. The geotechnical engineer, the retaining wall engineer, and the bridge engineer were all
provided copies of the VDOT mark-ups and they each have provided revised plans and
calculations that they believe fully address the comments. I can provide copies of the VDOT
mark-ups if needed to assist with review of revisions.
Road Plans:
I believe all previous comments road plan related were addressed except for the need, or not, for
a maintenance agreement for the retaining walls and whether the walls need to be outside or
inside the VDOT R.O.W. Email from Frank Pohl on 10/20/2020 indicated that the R.O.W. should
be adjusted so that walls fall within VDOT R.O.W. with adequate room for access or with an
additional access easement and that no maintenance agreement would be required. R.O.W.s
have been adjusted to include the retaining walls and end walls and additional 10' wide access
easement provided where appropriate.
