The Department of Transportation, Charlottesville Residency Transportation and Land Use
Section, has reviewed the above referenced plan as submitted by Collins Engineering, dated 17
August 2020, revised 16 November 2020, and offer the following comments.
Land Use
1. VDOT acknowledges that the specifics of the entrance on Hill Top Street will be
addressed on a future site plan. At this time it appears that an offsite sight distance
easement will be required for the entrance to meet minimum standards.
2. VDOT acknowledges that investigations of turn lane warrants will be put off until the site
plan stage. Please note that the necessity and relative feasibility of such improvements
remains unknown at this time.
A VDOT Land Use Permit will be required prior to any work within the right-of-way. The
owner/developer must contact the VDOT Charlottesville Residency Land Use Section at
(434) 422-9399 for information pertaining to this process.
