RE: Ivy Proper— ISP Plan Review —Review #1— SDP-2020-00065 -Comment Response Letter
Dear Mr. Moore:
We have reviewed all of your comments from October 29, 2020 and made the necessary
revisions. Please find our responses to the comments below in bold lettering.
1. Please provide turn lane warrants.
Turn lane warrants will be provided to VDOT prior to the next Final Site Plan submittal.
2. Dimension to entrances, show additional details for both sides of road.
Additional entrance dimensions have been added.
3. Proposed entrance does not appear to meet commercial entrance designs along
highways with shoulders. See page F-108 in the VDOT road design manual, Appendix F.
Please note, the curb radii should be offset from the EP.
Entrance tapers have been added.
4. Please show mill and overlay on plans in accordance with WP-2. Show limits of mill and
overlay to adjacent travel lane. Also, please add the WP-2 detail to the plans.
Mill and overlay has been added to sheet C4.0. WP-2 detail has been added to sheet C3.2.
5. Please provide an MOT plan in accordance with the Virginia Work Area Protection
Manual. MOT plan should be on a separate sheet and designed for this project, include
the proposed mill and overlay phase of construction.
Maintenance of Traffic sheets have been added.
6. Please include a note stating that VDOT will only maintain within drainage easements to
the extent necessary to protect the roadway from flooding or damage.
Note has been added to sheet C5.0.
7. There appears to be drainage Swale from bridge area that has not been adequately
addressed. Final site plan will adequately address the drainage along Rte. 250.
ENGINEERING I DESIGN I TECHNOLOGY
Inlet 116 has been added to capture runoff from roadside swale.
S. Please extend drainage study to daylight for verification of existing pipe and outfaII area
adequacy.
Pipe calculations have been carried to point of daylight on opposite side of Ivy Road, via
existing culvert (Ex. 99) and end section (Ex. 98). See Calculations Book for additional
information.
9. Please note that the final site plan must show conformance with the VDOT Road Design
Manual Appendices 13(1) and F, as well as any other applicable standards, regulations, or
other requirements.
The proposed design is believed to conform with VDOT criteria. Please provide specific
concerns, if any.
