The flood plain shown on the plat for the aforementioned variance has been reviewed. By extrapolating
between floodway cross-sections (D & 12) for Little Ivy Creek shown on Floodway Map #215, Engineering
has confirmed the elevation of the 100-year flood plain on TMP 58A(2)-21 to be approximately 514' +/-.
The plat shows an elevation of 513.0' for the 100-year flood plain and an elevation of 517.38' for the
existing building on this parcel. Due to the distance between the creek and the building, Engineering feels
the proposed improvements will be located outside of the 100-year flood plain. In the event future
improvements are proposed between Little Ivy Creek and the existing building, the elevation of the
improvements should be required. If the improvements are close to the 514' elevation then a more detailed
floodway analysis should be required.

RE: VA 98-05, Ivy Exxon
The Ivy Exxon wants to put up a new canopy in conjunction with replacing their
underground tanks and pumps. The canopy will require a variance as it is within the
setback from the R/W of Rt. 250. We had told Mr. Gibson that the FIRM map #215
shows this building/property in the 100-year flood zone. He has now submitted the
attached plat with the variance application. This survey shows that the building and most
of the property are not in the FHO. Can you let me know what the procedure is to get
confirmation of this survey so that we can process the variance? I can condition approval
of the variance on determining that the new structure is out of the FHO, I think, if needed.
But I don't know if Mr. Gibson needs to do anything else, or if you can just process this
coming from me.
