Retaining walls greater than 3 feet in height require a separate building permit. Walls exceeding 4
Feet in height require a stamped engineered design also. Walls require inspections as outlined in the
USBC.

Accessible parking spaces, access isles, and accessible route shall be installed in accordance with
ICC ANSI A117.1-09 and the 2015 Virginia Construction Code. Pay careful attention to the mail kiosk
and trash compactor areas.

1. Fire department connections must be shown on the site plan and located within 100' of a hydrant.
2. Aemergency apparatus turn around must be provided on the travel way serving the ice rink. While
it appears future development will allow for travel the current plan only provides a dead end travel
way due to the parking and the structure.
3. A knox box will be required on each building. Please put a note on the plans indicating the
requirement and that the location can be coordinated with the fire marshal's office.
4. An additional hydrant will be needed due to the possibility of the hydrant adjacent to building 2
being used and impacting emergency apparatus access.
5. Please provided the ISO needed fire flow for each structure.
6. Please provide a recent ACSA showing available fire flow for the project area.
