Brich, P.E. 1401 East Broad Street Commissioner Richmond, Virginia 23219 January 14, 2020 John Anderson County of Albemarle Department of Community Development 401 McIntire Road Charlottesville, VA 22902 Re: SUB-2019-00156 — Rivanna Village, Phase 2 — Road Plan Revision Dated 10-27-2020 Dear Mr. Anderson: (804) 786-2701 Fax: (804) 786,2940 The Department of Transportation, Charlottesville Residency Transportation and Land Use Section, has reviewed the above referenced Rivanna Village, Phase 2 — Road Plan, as submitted by Alan Franklin PE, LLC, dated October 27, 2020 and offer the following comments: 1. District Hydraulic, District Bridge and Structure, and Central Office Geotechnical Sections are currently reviewing project and awaiting responses. Responses will be forward upon receipt. 2. The design load rating must be updated to meet the requirements of EM-S&B-86.3 which was issued December 2020. The main difference in the updated memorandum is the addition of notional vehicles that are required to be analyzed. The purpose of confirming this now is to make sure that the new structure will sufficiently carry all the load rating vehicles included in the E M and not require a posting after construction is completed. 3. The Precast Box Culverts are approved for manufacture according to the Road & Bridge Standards. VirginiaDOT.org WE KEEP VIRGINIA MOVING A VDOT Land Use Permit will be required prior to any work within the right of way.
