RE: UVA Foundation Tennis Facility and Parking Lot Expansion Project (WPO201800059)
Dear Ms. Cox,
In response to your comments via email dated December 23, 2020, we offer the following responses:
As -built Review:
1. The as -built indicates storm pipes that were not installed. Please show updated drainage divides
and calculations showing the as -built conditions.
a. Response: Updated drainage divides and calculations are provided showing the as -built
conditions. Note that the storm pipes that were not installed in Phase I will be installed
when future Phase II work is completed. Ultimately, these areas drain to the detention
basin on site.
2. Provide geo-coordinates of the detention basin.
a. Response: Geo-coordinates have been added to the detention basin.
3. As -built and site visit indicate slopes steeper than 3:1 on the embankments (in the S/SW end of
detention basin). Provide confirmation that the slopes do not exceed 2:1. Slopes that exceed 2:1
must be regraded so that they do not exceed 3:1. Slopes that exceed 3:1 must be fully stabilized
before the bond can be released.
a. Response: As -built survey by Roudabush confirms that slopes do not exceed 2:1.
Additional Information Required:
1. Provide a completed DEC termination form (attached to this email).
a. Response: A completed DEC termination form will be provided once technical issues are
addressed.
2. Provide compaction reports for the fill in the dam.
a. Response: Please see attached embankment compaction reports from F&R.
3. It appears there is an outstanding $200 fee. This fee must be paid before the bond can be
released.

a. Response: The fee has been paid.
Site Visit Comments:
1. Floor of detention basin must be level and stabilized with vegetation.
a. Response: The approved site plan indicates the floor of the detention basin to have a
0.5% slope. Permanent seeding or sod will be applied for stabilization.
2. Fabric between forebay and pond is insufficient. Extend fabric and stone to the floor of the
detention basin. Be sure to provide at least 1-ft of overlap under existing fabric and key in the
sides of the fabric.
a. Response: The fabric and stone have been extended. See below from contractor.
3. 1.5" low flow orifice appears to be filled with concrete. Remove concrete from orifice.

a. Response: Concrete has been removed from the orifice. See below from contractor.
4. The gooseneck/elephant snout for E&S is still installed. This should be removed and the orifice
from it filled with concrete/grout.
a. Response: Gooseneck/elephant snout has been removed and the orifice has been filled
with grout. See below from contractor.
