Jeff
Thanks for reaching out. Attached is the menu and proposed floor plan. After measuring we have the following
calculations for space usage.
Aprox. first level: 3048 sgft
Food Prep/dining area: 2400 sqft (78%)
Target Areas: 648 sgft (21%)
The second.leve_I will be used for office and storage space. As you can see, the vast majority of the space will be utilized
for dining. \

With their prior plan, yes, but they decided to go ahead as a restaurant with accessory axe throwing. Their footprint for
the restaurant needs to be 51% of the space, they need to provide a full menu, and they need to advertise as a
restaurant. Andy has been in communication with them —Andy, can you provide any additional insight?

Lea,
We decided C-ville axes would need an SP, is that right? They've submitted a clearance already.

RE: Clearance 2021-00014
I understand your confusion about not needing a building permit, it is a common misconception. The space proposed
for your restaurant/axe throwing events was previously a religious use, which is an Assembly (A-3) use. The proposed
change to a restaurant with the axe throwing area as an ancillary occupancy would now be an Assembly (A-2) use group.
What seems like a slight change from and A-3 to an A-2 could actually be a major change because of the higher safety
and health requirements based on the number of people and their activities allowed by code. The Virginia Uniform
Statewide Building Code requires all change of occupancy uses to have a building permit and that all assembly use
building permits have a licensed architect's or engineer's design and seal. This in no way prevents your new business,
but maintains the safety and health of the public. Having this information early in the process with the zoning clearance
allows the applicant to proceed with knowledge of what obstacles need to be addressed for a complete project.
I hope this clarifies your concerns. If you have other questions, please advise.

Hi Betty, we are not doing any remodeling to the building at all. It will stay exactly how it presently is, so wouldn't you be
able to use the plans already on file with the county? We were told that because we are not doing anything to the
building that we would not need a building permit.
Would you please call me to discuss? My phone number is (307) 250-3505.
Thank you,
Krista

Good afternoon Mr. Crawley.
If you could speak with my colleague, Shaun Thomas, Environmental Health Technical Consultant with the Blue Ridge
Health Department, she would be able to give you the specifics about applying for a VDH food -service including the
required plan review process.
Shaun can be reached most days (M-F) at (434) 972-6219. 1 will be working at a Covid-19 vaccination site tomorrow but
am glad to assist when I can.
Thank you and have a good evening.

Jeff,
We just spoke with Lisa with VDACS. Since our concept will be similar to a subway sandwich shop this would be VDH.
Can you please point us to who we should talk to about this? Thank you.

All,
I've coped the applicant, who is looking to bring C-Ville Axes to 3004 Berkmar Dr. During today's site visit, they
mentioned the food they will be serving will mostly cold foods so I gather this will be under the purview off VDACS
rather than VDH. I'll let David speak more to this.
