Re: Letter of Revision- Cale Elementary School—Safe Route To Schools Crosswalk
An Albemarle County NIFI Project
SDP-2005-00113
To Whom It May Concern,
This is a request for a Letter of Revision for the Cale Elementary Safe Routes to School(SRTS)
Crosswalk Project,which modifies the Cale Elementary School approved site plan number SDP 2005-
00113. This project is located on Avon St Extended south of Charlottesville.
The application and 4 copies of the proposed changes are attached.The latest approve site plan has been
marked to show the locations of work along with separate sheets showing these detailed improvements:
- Crosswalk,midblock on Avon Street per VDOT requirements
- Southern Walkway across the Cale Elementary lawn,ending near relocated dumpster
- Middle walk connection, at the main entry to Cale,meeting ADA
- Northern walk connection,along the north exit drive and connecting to a proposed sidewalk
along Avon Street
- On-site Crosswalks to make pedestrian connections
- Realignment of the north exit drive to provide parallel parking spaces; 9 new here and 3 lost
for a net gain of 6 formally delineated spaces(staff parks there now)
- Addition/modification to Stormwater Facility to address change in Impervious.
Since this project utilizes VDOT and Federal Funds the plans have been reviewed by the VDOT
Engineers and Civil Rights teams. Albemarle County Public Schools Building Services Department has
reviewed and approved these plans.A County WPO has been submitted.
