This is a request letter regarding a small addition to a garage at the Little Keswick School, 500 Little Keswick Lane, Keswick
VA. The school Is operating under Special Use Permit SP2007-09 and is subject to Site Plan SDP1990-73
About 6 weeks ago the school experienced the total loss of one of its buildings to fire. The building, known as the Barn Dorm,
520 Little Keswick Lane, was a multi -use building for the school. Fortunately, no one was hurt in the pre -dawn fire, but all the
activities formeriy conducted in the building have to find new temporary homes on the campus.

Currently, the woodshop class is held under a tent, with woodworking equipment taken in and out of storage between classes.
The intent is to re -purpose the 1 story wood frame garage shown above into a temporary woodshop. The garage, currently
28'x28', will be extended 10' on one side (shown as a red rectangle on the right side of the garage on the plan above) to
become 38' wide and 28' deep.
The plan is to house the woodshop in the garage until a new replacement building ran be built. I have attached their Master
Plan as well, and you can see that project #6 is to be a Fine Arts Center, which will house the permanent wood shop. Due to
the fire, and the fact that the Barn Dorm was within the flood plain, the Fine Arts Center has moved up in priority. We anticipate
the planning, design and construction of the Fine Arts Center to take approximately 2 years.
We respectfully submit this Letter of Revision to the existing Site Plan to allow for this small addition. We can then get this
important class under roof for the special needs students of Little Keswick School.
Thank you in advance for your consideration of this important matter. Please feel free to be in touch with any questions or
clarifications.
Sincerely,
Donna Stewart, Lead Estimator/Project Manager
