Dear Margaret:
Talbert & Bright is in receipt of the formal review comments from the March 1, 2021 ARB
meeting for the above referenced project at the Charlottesville-Albemarle Airport. Please find
below an itemized response to the comments received (comments in regular font and responses
in italic font):
1. Revise the plan to indicate that the masonry infill walls at the patio lookout will be
constructed of material to match the existing wall.
The required note revision has been implemented on the Site Plan (Sheet C3).
2. Add the standard mechanical equipment note to the site and architectural plans:
"Visibility of all mechanical equipment from the Entrance Corridor shall be eliminated."
The standard mechanical equipment note has been added to the Site Plan (Sheet C3) as
well as the Architectural Sheets Al —A10.
3. Revise the lighting plan to maintain a maximum illumination level of 20 fc at the ground.
The photometric plan has been revised(Sheet El-E2) to reduce the illumination level, the
maximum shown is now 19.3 fc.
4. Consider revising lighting fixtures to these with color temperatures in the 2000K-3000K
range."
The light fixtures proposed are 4000K to match the recently added employee parking lot
lights (SDP-2014-00019) as well as be consistent with the long-term parking lot lighting
rehabilitation project (SDP-2018-00084). The cut-sheets shown on Sheet E3 have been
updated to list the corrected lumens value and 4000K color.
5. Identify on the plan the trees and shrubs to be demolished.
Trees and shrubs to be removed by the project are called out on the Site Plan (Sheet C3).

6. Provide a landscape schedule for proposed landscaping.
The landscape schedule is now shown on the new Landscape Detail sheet(Sheet L2).
7. Add the standard plant health note to the plan: "All site plantings of trees and shrubs shall
be allowed to reach, and be maintained at, mature height; the topping of trees is
prohibited. Shrubs and trees shall be pruned minimally and only to support the overall
health of the plant."
The standard plant health note has been added to the Site Plan (Sheet C3) as well as the
Landscaping Plan (Sheet L1) The landscaping plan has also been further developed
from the initial submittal.
Other changes to note since the initial project submittal:
• Sheet Cl (cover) — added the ARB project number and updated the Sheet Index to
include the Landscape Detail sheet.
• Sheet C2 (general layout) — revised the location of the contractors staging area to be
located at the airport's existing gravel parking area near the State Route 649 (Airport
Road) and Coffey Drive intersection.
Continued project review for staff administrative approval is hereby requested. If you should
