Petition Against the Car Wash Proposal We the undersigned residents of Gateway Village Townhomes are in opposition for the development of the proposed car wash for the following reasons: • unsightly addition seen from entrance to Gateway village and homes • unsuitable for family community • "attractive nuisance" or hangout for children, teenagers and undesirable clients of car wash • increased traffic presents accident danger to cars, children and school buses • anticipated noise from car wash machinery such as vacuums during the o ascK°i ' proposed working hours of 0700-2100 • k-t4~ i • increased trash generated from car wash through storm sewers • pollution to pond from run-off outside car wash through storm sewers a ( • decreased property values rK Building P H owner esident 11G`""`°4i AS 1. 3266 Gateway Village V D—,- 2. 3264 Gateway Village 3. 3262 Gateway Village &ue ( C n 4. 3260 Gateway Village 5. 3258 Gateway Village 6. 3256 Gateway Village G 91i44 " lip (,., . vw z n= , /5 If D II, )1.9,;A n., .;%; 7. 3254 Gateway Village L 8. 3252 Gateway Village ( , _ )to • PETITION r° June, 1997 We, the undersigned residents of Forest Lakes, strenuously object to the proposed carwash to be located at the entrance to our residential community. We purchased homes in Forest Lakes because of the "planned" part of the phrase, "planned community". The results of careful planning speak to the homeowner who is looking for more than just a home, but rather a well-designed community offering a quality of life not to be found elsewhere" We believe that a carwash in this community is not consistent with the county's stated purpose to establish a scenic entrance corridor to the Charlottesville/Albemarle community We hereby request that the Albemarle County Zoning Board, Planning Commission and the Board of Supervisors reject the proposed carwash and re-evaluate appropriate uses for land within the planned communities along the entrance corridor.
