HomeMy WebLinkAbout1952N MINUTES OF THE NOVEMBER 18, 1952, JOINT MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY SUPERVISORS AND THE ALBEMARLE COUNTY PLANNING COMMISSION A Dinner meeting at the Thomas Jefferson Inn was called to order and presided over by Mr. Charles Barham, Jr. In addition to Mr. Barham the following members of the Planning Com- mission were present: Messrs. William T. Stevens, Cecil Maupin, Guy A. Via, C. Nelson Beck, E. D. Tayloe, D. A. Robinson, Mrs. Fred A. Liady, and Dr. McLemore Birdsong. The Board of Supervisors was represented by its Chairman, Mr. C. Purcell McCue,and Mr. W. W. Wood, supervisor from the Rivanna District. Mr. Barham introduced the guest speaker, Mrs. Robert S. Pickens of Ashburn, who spoke on the activities of the Laudoun County Planning Commission and its solution to local problems of Zoning and Sub -division control. Mrs. Pickens stressed the value of drafting a complete but flexible Zoning Ordinance to cover the entire County both urban and rural. She further pointed out the importance of educating the people to planning and emphasized the fact that Zoning was not prohibitive but rather a restrictive measure of insuring proper planning in a community or county. 8:30 p.m. After a brief question and answer period the meeting was adjourned at Samuel S.
