The regular meeting of the PIPnninq C,,mm'ssion was held in the County
Board Room at 1Oz00 a.m. ' Members present were Mrs -Smith and
Simmons, Messrs. Bain, chairman, B-irdsong, iayloe, Smith,
Wade, Shepherd, Omohundro and Randolph.
Chairman opened the mee+ing with prAger. On his recommendation Nt
was decided that future meo_tings of +he commission will s+art at 9;3p
a.m- instead of 17,nn,
Mrs. Simmons, whose tctrrr of Office As sec rotary expired Tn Novembe_r,
was re-elected- to that post by the commission.
Mr- Shepherd moved that we accept +he uses defined in the proposed
highway zoning ordinance and remove from the printed pamohle pre-
pared by }hi s commi ssion the v.ords"anar+men+s end hotel s" under
resident! ai uses. Seconded and pissed.
Af ter furfhv_r di scussion, Mom. 'hepherd moved to wi f h d r a w thi s motion
so that pamphle+s might b,, mailed out in their present fora;, without
correction, because it was felt that this and o+her channas might
follow a public hearing. Seconded. rassed.
Mr. Randolph suggested thAf chairman appoint A committee to investi-
gate costs and mefhods of addressing and mailing pamphlets and re-)orf
by next pdnesday morning. Chairman appointed Mr. Robinson and Mrs.
Simmons.
Mr. Shepherd reported on a survey made by Dr. Birdsong and Mr. Shepherd
on axi sti nq commercial estabI i shments and on pr oposed requl at ions on
sub -divisions, as prepared b,', the City Planning Cornmission, Y,hich pro-
posals would ¢over a three-mile belt Around Charlottesville. Our com-
mission'sropinion on proposals is wanted, Mr. Shepherd saidbefore the

upervisors' mee�inq. H® recommended, however, that we 90

Mr- Shepherd was asked +o stind copies of sub -division regulations to
all members of our commission.
