The first regul�x meeting of the Albemarle County
Planning Commission was held at 3 F. m. on I`;ay loth in
Mr. Henry Haden's office. The meeting was primarily for
the purpose of organization. Per. Farrar Shelton of the
State Plarxing Board explained that the commission has no
legal authority but is created to act in advisory capacity
to the Board of Supervisors rege-rding future planninU for
the county. Mx. Shelton described planning activities of
commissions already in operation and assured this commission
of such cooperation as it is possible for the State Bo:xd.to
offer.
Mr. Larned Randolph was elected chair -an for the period
of one year with Mr. Henry Bush acting secretary until a
volunteer secretary could be appointed. Mr. Haden a`reed to
ash. Mrs. Isabel Nunnally to act in this capacity before the
next regular meeting on the second Thursday of June at 3 P. m.
in the Board Room. The second Thursday of each month was
chosen for regulcx meetings. Mr. Haden explained that the
county executive's membership to the commission is required
by the terms of the act cresting such commissions, and that
the other members have been appointed for varied terns of
office: Mr. Larned Randolph for one year; Pdrs. Gordon Smith
for trio years; Er. Pa;; Warrick for three years, and Mr. Henry
Bush for four years.
After accepting an invitation to meet with the County
School Board: on ida.y 23rd at 2 p. m. to discuss voc^tional
educatdon, the meeting wad adjourned.
