Denny was Chairman, came up for discussion. In order to put this plan into effect, taxes in every county would be increased, and everyone agreed it would be quite worth while to have taxes increased if a better school system could be obtained. Mr. Randolph read a letter from Mr. O'Neil, dated December 13th, 1944, in which the latter suggested we make a survey of the difference in the price paid the farmer for his produce and the price to -the retailer. The Chairman suggested we go on record as favoring such a study when, as, and if it could be done. Any action on letter was postponed until next meeting. Mr. Scott was approached about the number of servicemen who had expressed a desire to farm after the war, and he has appointed a committee to advise the servicemen about farming. Members of the committee are as follows: C. M. Garnett, Route 2,,Charl,ottesville,Va. J. B. Kegley, Route 3, Charlottesville, a. Larned Randolph, Keane, Va. J. A. Smart, Soil Conservation Service, County Office Bldg. Charlottesville, Va. Mr. T. O.Scott, Post Office Bldg. Charlottesville,-Va. Mr. Bush's report on the job survey was most discouraging. He stated that Mr. Peterson had contacted the civic clubs and had only one reply, and that from the Scottsville District. It was decided not to take further action on this survey for the present. The members of the commission examined the questionnaires that had been received from the servicemen, and Mt-. Randolph instructed Mrs. Nunnally and Mr. Bush to write to each serviceman who had asked for assistance on the questionnaire. Mr. Haden asked if the commission felt we should do anything about trying to get answers from the relatives of servicemen about their present address as there were about six hundred who did not reply to our former letter. Mr. Randolph suggested Mr. Haden and the secretary get together and write a letter and send out to these relatives of servicemen requesting them to please send us the addresses. Mr. Randolph asked the secretary to write to the State Planning Board at Richmond and have them mail copies of the Denny Report to each member of the Commission. As Mrs. Nunnally had not been able to get any information Y00 out of Mr. Graham concerning the Albemarle County School Plan, Mr. Haden suggested that Mr. Randolph and Mr. Warrick contact Mr. Graham and see what they could find out. #2• There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned. Secretary. NOTE: Letter written to State Planning Board for copies of Denny Report to be sent to each member of commission. We wanted this address in order that we might send him a questionnaire to find out whether or not we could be of service to him now or after he returns to civilian life. We have not had a reply from you. Therefore, we are writing again to call your attention to the fact that letters which we have received from other servicemen indicate that with a number of cases we have been able to be helpful, Will you, therefore, please write your son's address at the bottom of this letter and return to us as soon as convenient, Yours truly, .ALBEI.TALZLr COURPY PLUTMI'IC COT,U SSION By Secretary, HM:IN
