Mr. John E. Mason andNr. Carper of the State Board
were present. These men felt it essential that someone would
have to be employed by the county to administer the zoning
ordinance. Ctrs. Pickens did the work in Loudoin County as
she was Chairman of the County Planning Commission and had
the time to devote to it.
The first step would be for someone to go eat and list
present uses in the county and also all billboards.
Send above to State Planning Board and have it mapped.
Assemble group of commissioners together and study
land use map, soil survey and agricultural map, and decide
what should be done.
How Tong would it take to do this work? Have man
who does work available to be present at meetings, and start
campaign of advertising in the papers.
`r.r What would tie approximate amount to ask County Supervisors
for to a*co#plish this work,? Mr. Carper suggested $1,200 to
pay cost of man to do leg work as well as to pay for having
maps made and advertising in papers.
S�art with strip zoning along highways, about 200 feet
and regulate it. Highways, Residential and Commercial. List
4 few things that cannot be put in rural areas - junk yards,
hog farms, etc. any use otherwise not prohibited by law. A11
things have to have a use permit, but they can be located in
rural area. The man employed for making map should be
available for meetings.
Mr. Mason stated that the Bureau of Agricultural
Economics where he is employed would give some help and
also the State Planning Board.

adjourned.
