Mrs. Smith r: reported that the Council of Social Agencies had appointed a committee to -consider the problem of the aged chronically ill of this community. It was suggested that Mrs. Smith invite this committee to meet with our commission on April llth. It is understood that there is a possibility of War Memorial Funds or Public Community Funds being available for this purpose. Mr. Harry Stahl, the engineer working on our Use or Zoning map, met with us and presented several sections of the map already finished together with the list of symbols used for the map. These sections covered the Rivanna District. Mr. Carper of the State Planning Board stated that nothing further had been done in Fairfax County. Mrs. Smith asked Mr. Mason to suggest what would be our next step, and Mr. Mason said we should take the district finished and try to get an overall picture of what would be best for this district and decide then what to suggest for it. He thought it wise also to have a reforestation program in mind for the future. Mr. Carper stated it would be well to have a record of the tax delinquencies as that would help to know what lands were not on a paying basis. This record should be obtained from Mr. Smart. The question of Highway Advertising was brought up and W. Carper said he felt sure the State Highway Department would cooperage with us in every way to try and keep objectio64 able signs off the Highways. It was stated that nothing could be done to get rid of the signs on the highway now, but a zoning ordinance could be made to establish a time limit, as the Highway Department does support counties that have highway zoning ordinances. The different classifications of zoningwers discuss} commercial, agricultural, residential, etc., and it was suggested that each member of the board would try to take a certain district and talk this over with the people in the community and try to get their reaction to zoning and prepare the way for finally coming to a decision about what types of zoning should be used for each district. It was suggested that Dr. Young and Mr. T. 0. Scott be invited to attend the April meeting in order to give us some idea of the different types of land in Albemarle County. After Mr. Stahl, Mr. Mason and Mr. Carper had left th meeting, Mrs. Smith asked if there was anything we could do about the school situation, and it was the conceasus of opinicn that there did not seem to be much we could do about it. #2 . adjourned. There being no further business, the meeting was Secretary.
