HomeMy WebLinkAbout07 12 1946 PC MinutesOR ALBEMARLE COUNTY PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES OF MEETING JULY 12TH, 1946 At this meeting were present: Mrs. Louise Simmons, Larned Randolph, Hunter Cockrell, Henry Bush, Pierson Scott, Ed Tayloe, Eddie Bane and Mrs. Elizabeth Chamberlaine. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The Chairman then read the phapgesdprbpnged bit the Committee for the zoning ordinance. However, after much discussion pro and con, it was decided that The Loudoun County Zoning Ordinance as adopted December 3rd, 1945, be submitted to Mr. Mi. a lawyer, for his approval. The changes made were as follows: On Page one the word Loudoun was to be changed to Albemarle. On Page eight the No. 10 was to follow No. 9 and be designated"Commercial Recreational Uses." On Page twelve, the second paragraph under the heading OBoard of Zoning Appeals" was to be crossed outentirely. If Mr. Fife approved of the legal wording of the ordinance, the ordinance was to be submitted to the Board of Supervisors for their approval. Mr. Bush brought to the attention of the commission the possibility of the rejurination of the vineyard culture in Virginia. It was suggested that Mr. Bernard Chamberlains could tell us about this subject. Mr. Randolph suggested that this commission might sponsor such a puWam as one of the functions of the commission is to try to map out a long term plan for the county's development. An effort should be made to correlate such a program with the soil conservation commission. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned. G Secretary.
