Mrs. Smith explained to her that it was a protective ordinance and not an arbitrarily restrictive one. Our Chairman suggested we schedule meetings to be held in each distiict to inform the public of the zoning ordinance as proposed by the commission. Mr. Bush was appointed Chairman of the publicity committee to arrange for these meetings — and also to preside at these meetings. Erich member was given a tentative date to schedule the meeting in his or her district. Meetings are to be scheduled at Scottsville, Cismont, Greenwood, Red Hill, Covesville, Crozet, McIntyre, Merriweather—Lewis, Broadus Wood. Mr. Bush requested funds to have copies made of the proposed zoning ordinance as well as funds to pay for stenographic work to be done in sailing out notices of scheduled meetings to each tau payer in the county. This was granted to him. Mr. Bush reported he had attended a meeting to try and secure the approval of the public for the proposed new highway to Washington which would link Shadwell with Monticdllo. Mr. Bush did not feel the road proposed should be approved because the roads already built were far from adequate for the traffic served by these roads. He felt these Present roads should be put in first class condition before any other goads were built. Mr. Randolph reported he had attended a meeting about the school program. The supervisors had not seen fiat to appropriate the money the school had requested. This was discussed and it was felt some impartial group should try to work out a long range program for the benefit of the schools. As the supervisors did not wish to raise the tax rate in the county, some other forms of taxation are being studied by severe) groups. Mrs. Smith felt that this commission as a planning group should study, the tax issue more thoroushly. Mr. Tayloe asked if this group felt we should again go on record about the school program — but it was decided therewas no further action we could take. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
