Proposal: ,BOARD OF_ SUPERVlSfili
Messrs. Sieg and Kirtley have requested amendment to the Albemarle
County Service Authority' s service area to provide access to the
Crozet Sewer Interceptor.
Staff Comment:
In lieu of a complete Staff Report on these two requests, staff
offers the following comments with regard to general policy and
precedence set for a similar request in the past.
The general policy for access to utilities in the past has been to
limit utility service to those areas located outside of the County' s
designated growth areas and/or those areas located within the
watershed of a drinking water impoundment. This policy is used as
a tool to discourage intensive development in those areas not
designated for future growth and development, as well as those
areas of drinking water impoundments which are most sensitive to
development impact. This policy has basically been the guideline,
along with the Comprehensive Plan, for establishing the Albemarle
County Service Authority' s service areas . The most recent request
for which this policy was followed was in July, 1983 , in which
Christian Aid Mission (located just west of these currently
requested properties) was denied access to the Crozet Interceptor.
