Dear Board Members :
The purpose of our letter is to request your consideration of
an amendment to the present county water service area to include
Tax Map Parcel Sect . 60- Parcel 4D2 located on Old Garth Road .
This lot, zoned for single-family dwelling, is served by a well
for our residential water needs, but we have been experiencing
consist rablems with water supply. The facts are listed here
for your consideration:
1 ) Since we have owned the house (Aug, 1985) , we have experienced
inadequate water supply. The problem is unpredictable ; at times
it is fine and at times , showers and toilet flushing—dre not
possible . It has been especially dry this summer, allowing only
minimal water for daily use, or none at all .
2). We have already replaced one well pump which burned out in the
process of trying to get water into the-Tiouse:____.The well has a
recharge of less than 12 gallons a minute .
3) We have had emergency and routine plumbing calls to review the
system for possible-leaks or problems with the pressure tank
that we might have been able to correct . There is no problem with
either .
4) We have discussed drilling deeper with the well' s original driller .
He does not recommend this . The well is between 240 and 300 ft .
already.
5) The other option we have explored is to drill a new well with
a conditional guarantee for water. However, that condition would
be considered "met" if another 300 ft . well were drilled and
achieved only a gallon/minute recharge . We could still not be sure
that the same lack of consistent water supply would not occur .
6) The shape of our b t makes it difficult to locate another
acceptable drilling area since it could require drilling near
the drainage field for our septic tank.
We feel the most cost-effective long-term solution to our problem
is to be able to hook into the county water system . The closest
hook-up exists in Colthurst subdivision, directly behind our
property line . We would need to obtain an easement to go across
a small area of one lot in Colthurst . We are in the process of
obtaining this easement .

One final point of note : our lot was originally part of a
larger lot on Old Garth Road . After it was separated, the
remaining original lot and the one next to it (4D1 and 41 )
remained within the water district but ours (directly adjacent)
did not . This is evident from the maps of the water authority ' s
service district that we reviewed .
We very much appreciate your consideration of our situation at
your next hearing .
Sincerely yours ,
