Downer 320 Key West Drive Charlottesville,Virginia 22901 Re: Soils Study Lot 4 Block B Section 1 Key West Albemarle County Dear Mr. Downer: As requested we have completed a soils study at the referenced site. The purpose of the study was to determine the suitability of the soils for the disposal of sewage by means of a septic tank drainfield system. The investigation has consisted of drilling a series of six (6) hand auger test holes to determine soil profiles on the lot. A log of each test hole is shown on the enclosed soil profile sheet. The approximate location of the soil profile holes is shown on the enclosed plat showing a resurvey of Block B Section One "Cedar Hills" prepared by William S. Roudabush dated July 9, 1974 The holes have been flagged with orange ribbon for future reference. Also enclosed is a soil information summary sheet containing information pertinent to the design of the potential drainfield. We understand that you would like to transfer a strip approximately 50 feet wide along the southeast lot line from Lot 4 to Lot 3. The proposed new lot line had not been staked at the time of our investigation. Based on our investigation, it is our opinion that soils in the vicinity of holes A-E are suitable for installation of drainfield lines under the current Health Department regulations. Due to a drainageway that runs through the front portion of the lot, slopes that exceed 25% and shallow soil cover over bedrock in the vicinity of hole F, the house will have to be positioned so it does not interfere with the drainfield site. It may be necessary to limit the house to three (3) bedrooms to insure sufficient area to support the primary and 100% reserve drainfield sites required by the county. The contents of this report reflect our opinion as to the suitability of the soils in the area investigated to support a septic tank/drainfield system under the current Health Department regulations. Final approval and design of the drainfield rests with the Charlottesville-Albemarle Health Department. • We hope this is the information you need. If you have any questions, please let us know. Sincerely, ct--k)..re_. Steve Gooch End. cc'VED JUI. 7 1994 ;!'iy • Soil Profile Lot 4 Block B Section 1 Key West Hole Depth Material Description Soil Texture (in.) The house will have to be sited so it does not interfere with the potential drainfield. It is possible that a pump system will be required for a reserve drainfield located in the vicinity of holes C and E. The house will probably have to be limited to 3 bedrooms to insure sufficient area for the primary and 100%reserve drainfield sites. . \ I bO • / • 77, 50° 3;,-N — 00 32 16 a Q • O •, - 5 Now b For r r ts1-' 2 g. .8 .F. ropc („ n W. • CP . 2 •c • ,'' N N—1 -30. 0 N (- 0 53 0 .— • Pp / v%,/, 53 59,9 1V 5 3 / / ,•-sr . 93\ hQ o,- h g s /.f I4 .../.... 6o 5 0•0 •m 55 2 66' ul -o v .o O NO oo • 9 • • 0 0 a O q '--'6, /6''9s • 8S 'er 11 u • `-)52 Curve Data `'Ao 5 „is, : • 7 No. R Dello Ton.
