WE ARE PROPOSING TO INSTALL A THREE SIDED
BUILD HE OUTBACK STEAKHOUSE LOGO STYLE LETTERS (AS
PER DRAWINGS) . THE REAR SIDE OF THIS SIGN WILL BE MOUNTED FLUSH
TO THE REAR GABLE OF THE OUTBACK STEAKHOUSE . THIS SIGN WILL
PROJECT FROM THE BUILDING APROX. 9 ' 9" . THERE WILL BE AMPLE SUPPORT
FROM BEHIND THE GABLE TO HOLD THE WEIGHT OF THIS SIGN .
JUSTIFICATION STATEMENT #1 : WE FEEL THAT STRICT APPLICATION OF THE
SIGN ORDINANCE WILL POSE UNDUE HARDSHIP FOR TWO REASONS
A) WE ARE ALLOWED NO FREE-STANDING SIGN
B) THE REAR ELEVATION OF THHI _BIIJNG PROVIDES GREATEST
VISIBILITY FROM US 29 . r NO SIGN IS CUR TLY ALLOWED_�
OUTBACK STEAKHOUSE FEEL T NO SIGN WILL POSE UNDUE
HARDSHIP TO THE VIABILITY OF THE RESTAURANT .
STATEMEN NE FEEL THAT OTHER PROPERTIES IN THE

FOLLOWING REASON .
A) THE LOCATION OF THE OUTBACK STEAKHOUSE RUNS PARALLEL WITH
US 29 . THERE IS A RETAINING WALL +/- 5 ' THAT RUNS ALL
ALONG THE REAR ELEVATION OF THE OUTBACK STEAKHOUSE - THIS
PROVIDES PORE VISIBILITY FROM US 29 - THIS HARDSHIP IS NOT
SHARED BY OTHERS .
HIS VARIANCE WILL NOT BE OF SUBSTANTIAL
RTY AND THE CHARACTER OF THE DISTRICT
WILL NOT BE CHANGED. WE FEEL THAT WE HAVE MET ALL OTHER CITY
REQUIREMENTS. THIS SIGN WILL POSE NO SAFETY HAZARDS , AND WILL NOT
BE AN "EYESORE" TO THE PUBLIC .

The current application form shall be completed by the applicant
in its entirety (the request should be clear) .
THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION SHALL ACCOMPANY AN APPLICATION TO THE
BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS AND IS TO BE PROVIDED BY THE APPLICANT.

( ) Most recently approved recorded plat. If none exists, then a
copy of the deed description for the property or properties
involved in the request.
((The appropriate drawings showing all existing and proposed
improvements on the property, with dimensions and distances
to property lines, and any special conditions of the property
that may justify the request.
(V' The owners contact person and mailing address and daytime
phone numbers.
((The proper fee payable to the County of Albemarle.
THE ZONING DEPARTMENT WILL PROVIDE THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION TO
THE APPLICANT AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION.

JOHN , AS PER OUR MANY CONVERSATIONS, I AM FORWARDING THE
VARIANCE PACKAGE ON THE ABOVE MENTIONED PROJECT. I WOULD LIKE TO
VERIFY MY INFORMATION . IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT WE WILL BE
ALLOWED, WITH OUT QUESTION , ONE 4 ' X 16 ' SINGLE FACE BUILDING SIGN
TO BE INSTALLED ON THE FRONT ELEVATION , AND TWO 3' X 12 ' SINGLE
FACE BUILDING SIGN ON EITHER SIDE ELEVATION . WHAT IS IN QUESTION ,
IS THE PROJECTING SIGN THAT WE ARE APPLYING FOR VARIANCE ON . THIS
PROJECTING SIGN WILL BE AS PER DRAWING ENCLOSED .
THE SIGN COMPANY THAT IS GOING TO BE INSTALLING THE ABOVE
MENTIONED SIGNS WILL PICK UP PERMITS ON WHAT IS ALLOWED EARLY NEXT
WEEK .
IN MY RECORDS, I SHOW THE NEXT VARIANCE IS SCHEDULED FOR
SEPTEMBER THE 13TH . I AM HOPEFUL THAT I HAVE ENCLOSED EVERY THING
THAT YOU NEED FOR US TO BE SCHEDULED FOR THAT HEARING. IF I HAVE
