Re: SDP-2021-00068- Southern Albemarle Convenience Center— Initial Site Plan
Dear Mr. Fritz:
The Department of Transportation, Charlottesville Residency Transportation and Land Use
Section, has reviewed the above referenced plan as submitted by Draper Aden Associates, dated
June 10, 2021, and offer the following comments.
1. Please expand on the right and left turn lane\taper warrant data, please see VDOT's Road
Design Manual Appendix F-, pg., F-86-89, please insert traffic data in graph chart, figure 3-
26.
2. Please provide more detail drainage data, at proposed entrance, is there a ditch line?
Will a culvert pipe be needed? If so please provide drainage calculations.
3. Please show Mill and overlay on plans in accordance with WP-2 and show limits of mill
and overlay to adjacent travel lane, onto Esmont Road.
4. Please provide an MOT plan in accordance with the Virginia Work Area Protection
Manual. Sufficient for the paving necessary.

A VDOT Land Use Permit will be required prior to any work within the right of way. The
owner/developer must contact the Charlottesville Residency land Use Section at (434) 422-9399
for information pertaining to this process.
