You have requested a 154 square foot sign on the western elevation, facing Rt. 29, which is the "accessory frontage". ACAC's primary frontage is the northern elevation which already has a 117.25 square foot sign. Section 4.15.7.5 allows the calculation.of the primary entrance elevation at 1.5 times the lineal feet of frontage and 0.5 times the accessory wall frontage. It also states that the sign areas calculated on building frontage may be used only on those frontages from which they were calculated, although the total area may be split between them. Since ACAC's primary frontage is 250 feet we have to cap the sign size at the maximum of 200 square feet per establishment per wall. (See Section 4.15.12.6.) Then adding the accessory frontage of 177 feet x 0.5, the total signage allowed is 288.5sf. This can be divided between the two frontages provided that neither sign exceeds the 200sf maximum. The two desired signs only total 271.25sf (117.25 plus 154). Therefore, the signs are within the ordinance limits and are allowed without variance. Since we have already received the ARB approval for the western elevation sign, you may proceed with your request for sign permits. We will refund your$95.00 fee that was paid for the variance application as quickly as possible. If you have any questions or comments, please call me directly.
