Dear Ms. Harkabus & Mr. Wetaz:
The Albemarle County Board of Zoning Appeals heard your variance application, VA-99-17, at
their meeting on Tuesday, August 3, 1999. The variance was approved (4:1) with the following
conditions: 1) This variance is to permit the existing Boyd Tavern freestanding sign. It does not
include complete replacement of the sign but repairs and regular maintenance are permitted.
2) The existing roof sign will be removed within thirty days after the approval of the variance.
This variance approval allows relief from Section 4.15.12.1 of the Albemarle County
Zoning Ordinance to allow a second freestanding sign by allowing the Boyd Tavern
Market sign to remain with the BP gas price sign.
